Whether you’re buying a used motorcycle, confirming your own registration is in order, or just checking that a bike’s paperwork matches what the seller told you, every province now offers a free online way to look up registration details. Here’s how to do it wherever the motorcycle is registered.
What You’ll Need
At minimum, you need the motorcycle’s registration number exactly as it appears on the number plate or registration book. Some provincial systems also let you search by the owner’s CNIC. No documents need to be uploaded for a basic online check.
Punjab: MTMIS
Official portal: https://mtmis.excise.punjab.gov.pk
Online
- Go to the official MTMIS Punjab website.
- Enter the motorcycle’s registration number.
- Complete the “I’m not a robot” verification.
- Click Search.
Results show the owner’s name, registration number, color, engine number, price, year of manufacture, and recent token tax status (paid or due).
Via SMS
Text the registration/enrollment number to 8785. You’ll get a reply with the chassis number, engine number, make, registration date, token tax paid, and owner’s name.
Sindh: Excise Sindh Vehicle Verification
Official portal: https://excise.gos.pk
- Visit the official Excise Sindh website and go to the Online Services section.
- To search by registration number, use the “Online Vehicle Verification” page and enter the number plate.
- To search by owner instead, use the “Vehicle Verification by CNIC” page: select “Two Wheelers,” enter the 13-digit CNIC (dashes optional), and click “Find Vehicles” to list every vehicle registered under that CNIC.
Only public vehicle details are shown — CNIC and contact information are never displayed. If your search comes up empty, double-check the category (two-wheeler vs. four-wheeler), confirm the CNIC digits, and verify the motorcycle is actually registered in Sindh and not under a company name. The official Excise Sindh app is also available for Android and iOS, and the Excise call centre can help at (021) 111 374 634.
A clean ownership record doesn’t confirm a bike isn’t stolen — for a separate theft check, contact Karachi’s CPLC with the registration, engine, and chassis numbers at 1102, 021-35662222, or 021-35682222.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: MTMIS KPK
Official portal: https://www.kpexcise.gov.pk/mvrecords
- Open the official MTMIS KPK page.
- Select your district.
- Indicate whether the motorcycle has a permanent registration or is running on a temporary number.
- Enter the registration number.
- Click Search.
Results include the registration number, manufacturer, chassis number, owner’s name, model, engine number, and owner’s father’s name. The ZamaKP app is also available for mobile checks.
Islamabad: Excise & Taxation ICT
Official portal: https://islamabadexcise.gov.pk
- Go to the official Islamabad Excise & Taxation website and find the vehicle detail check.
- Enter the registration number exactly as it appears on the number plate or registration document.
- Submit to view the record.
Results show the owner’s name, make, model, engine number, chassis number, and token tax status. The department’s only official channels are its website and the City Islamabad app (mainly used for paying token tax); be cautious of unofficial sites offering SMS lookups, since these can return outdated or inaccurate records.
Before You Buy a Used Motorcycle
- Compare the online result against the physical registration book or smart card.
- Check that the engine and chassis numbers stamped on the motorcycle match what’s recorded in the system.
- Confirm the seller’s original CNIC matches the registered owner’s name — if it doesn’t, ask about the chain of ownership and any pending transfer paperwork.
- Check for outstanding token tax, since unpaid dues can sometimes carry over as a hassle for the new owner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a fee to check motorcycle registration details online?
No, these lookups are free on all four official provincial/territorial portals.
Can I search using just the owner’s CNIC instead of the registration number?
Only on the Sindh Excise portal, which offers a dedicated CNIC-based search. Punjab, KP, and Islamabad currently require the registration number.
What if my search doesn’t return any results?
Double-check that you’ve entered the registration number exactly as printed, confirm the motorcycle is actually registered in that province/territory, and try again later in case the record hasn’t been updated yet. If it still doesn’t appear, contact the relevant excise department directly.
Does an online check confirm a motorcycle isn’t stolen?
No — it only confirms registration and ownership details. For a theft check, contact your local police or, in Karachi, the CPLC directly with the registration, engine, and chassis numbers.
A two-minute online check before any motorcycle purchase — or just to confirm your own paperwork is current — can save you from a lot of trouble down the road.
