In a tragic Swat incident, a man was burnt to death in the Madyan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district on Thursday night. The local police reported that the man faced blasphemy allegations, leading to his violent demise.
Police Station Torched, Officers Injured
According to the District Police Officer (DPO), the law enforcers had taken the suspect into custody and shifted him to the Madyan police station. However, an enraged mob later stormed the station, forcibly removing the suspect and setting him on fire. The mob also attacked the police station, torching it and damaging police vehicles. As a result of this Swat incident, eight police officers sustained injuries.
KP CM Appeals for Peace

In a telephonic communication, the CM directed the police to take immediate steps to control the situation and urged the people to remain peaceful.
Similar Incident in Punjab
This Swat incident echoes a similar occurrence last month in Punjab’s Sargodha district. In that incident, a mob attacked a house belonging to a Christian man over alleged desecration. The attackers damaged his property, torched a shoe factory within the premises, and vandalized local infrastructure. Police intervened, rescuing the accused and his family, and conducted several arrests following the violence.
The Swat incident highlights the volatility surrounding blasphemy allegations in Pakistan, underscoring the urgent need for legal and social interventions to prevent such tragic events.
