Karachi: Pakistan Telecommunications Authority -PTA has fined PKR 30 million to a mobile network operator company -Jazz due to its poor quality of service standards committed in its license.
A three member panel comprising Amir Azeem Bajwa -Chairman PTA, Dr Khawaja Siddiqui Khokhar -Member Compliance and Enforcement and Muhammad Naveed -Member Finance issued penalty orders to Pakistan Mobile Communication Limited -Jazz.
Pakistan Telecommunications Authority -PTA conducted different surveys in different areas using quality standard tool to examine the network. Surveys conducted in all major cities in the country including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Islamabad and Quetta.
The survey results were send to the licensee with strict instruction to submit detailed report comprising main reasons for non-compliance with these parameters. PTA also stressed to take possible measures to enhance the quality of service.
However, Pakistan Mobile Communication Limited company failed to fulfil the directions of removing the shortfalls.
Speaking to a news agency, high ranked Jazz officials claimed that PTA is regulator and all the rights are in hands of PTA to check the systems to better customer experience.
