First Time Pakistan’s Mangoes Will be Exported to China by Road::
In a significant development, Pakistani mangoes are set to be transported to Xinjiang, China for the first time using a land route. Sadequain Shipping Line, a logistics company based in Karachi, is taking the lead in this endeavor. Having previously successfully shipped seafood from Karachi to Kashgar in China via land, their experience has instilled confidence in them to venture into exporting mangoes.
The journey will commence from Multan, a major hub for mango production, and travel through the Karakoram Highway to reach Tashkurgan. From there, the mangoes will be distributed to various cities in Xinjiang. To ensure the mangoes remain fresh during transportation, refrigerated containers will be utilized, maintaining a controlled temperature between -20 to 25 degrees Celsius.
The estimated duration of the journey from Multan to Tashkurgan, including customs clearance in Sost and Tashkurgan, is approximately six days. In addition to mangoes, cherries from Gilgit-Baltistan are also planned for export to Xinjiang.
Sadequain Shipping Line has future plans to expand its operations to other regions in China, with a particular focus on Guangzhou and Shenzhen. To explore potential partnerships for the new route, the company’s CEO, Tayyab Khan, will be visiting China in the upcoming week.
This development holds great significance for trade between Pakistan and China as it strengthens their economic ties and opens up new avenues for business opportunities.
