Pakistan’s martial arts scene witnessed a momentous triumph at the recent Asian Jiu-Jitsu U-18 Championship held in Abu Dhabi (May 3rd-8th, 2024). The nation’s five-member team, showcasing exceptional skill and determination, secured a phenomenal haul of one gold and two bronze medals, etching their names in the history books.
The highlight of the championship was the U-18 Duo Classic event, where the dynamic duo of Muhammad Yusuf Ali and Umar Yasin emerged victorious, defeating Kazakhstan in a nail-biting final match and clinching the coveted gold medal for Pakistan. This victory marks a historic first for Pakistan in the Asian Jujitsu U-18 category.
Pakistan’s success story doesn’t end there. Isra Waseen and Kainat Arif, competing in the senior women’s category of Duo Show and Duo Classic, displayed remarkable talent and secured two well-deserved bronze medals, further bolstering the national team’s impressive showing at the championship.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Ju Jitsu Federation, Khalil Ahmad Khan, expressed immense pride in the team’s achievements. He lauded their exceptional performance, particularly highlighting the historic Asian Jujitsu U-18 title as a testament to the immense talent harbored by Pakistani youth. Khan commended the dedication and hard work of all team members and the federation, attributing part of the success to the rigorous training received at the National Training Camp facilitated by the Pakistan Sports Board. The Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board also joined the chorus of praise, congratulating the young champions for their exceptional performance and the gold medal win.
