To have your child shown on a Family Registration Certificate (FRC), the child must first have a record in NADRA’s system, and you then apply for a new FRC that lists your family. The sources I read do not describe a separate “add a child to an existing FRC” form. Here is how NADRA’s own process appears to work, what you need and what to check. NADRA’s rules and fees change, so confirm the details in the Pak ID app or at a NADRA centre.
What Is an FRC?
A Family Registration Certificate is a NADRA document that lists the members of a family. According to a Graana guide, it comes in three kinds:
- Birth: lists the applicant’s parents and siblings.
- Marriage: lists the spouse and children.
- Adoption: lists the guardian.
Children are included in the marriage FRC. You provide the CNIC, NICOP or POC of your spouse and the records of your children, instead of those of your parents and siblings.
Step 1: Make Sure Your Child Is Registered
Graana says family members with incomplete or unregistered NADRA records will not appear on the FRC until their data is updated. For a child, this means the child needs a Child Registration Certificate (CRC), also called a B-Form. A Pakistani consulate guide says children with a CRC must attend in person with the applicant when the application is made at a consulate.
NADRA’s B-Form rules depend on age, according to an ARY News report:
- Under 3: A B-Form can be issued without a photo and is valid until the child turns three.
- Ages 3 to 10: A photo is required, and the B-Form is valid until 10.
- Ages 10 to 18: A photo, fingerprints and an iris scan are required.
If the child has no B-Form yet, apply for one first through the Pak ID app or at a NADRA centre.
Step 2: Apply for the FRC
At a NADRA Registration Centre
- Take a token.
- When your number is called, go to the counter for your photograph.
- Staff enter the data, which must match NADRA’s database.
- Staff print the FRC and hand it over. Graana says it is issued in real time at a centre.
Online
Graana’s guide describes the online process on NADRA’s Pak Identity portal: create an account, choose a category, fill in the form, pay the fee, give fingerprints at a designated point and upload a passport-size photo and the scanned form. It says a PDF is emailed within 24 hours. This is an older third-party guide, so check that the steps still match the current portal.
Through the Pak ID app
ARY News reported in August 2025 that services for CNICs, B-Forms and FRCs are available in the Pak ID app. It also says citizens can update records of unregistered family members in the app. A September 2026 ARY report on version 5.7.4 of the app says people whose names are missing from a family list can be added in the app if they have a national ID card. After approval, a new FRC must be obtained. The report does not specifically mention children, so ask NADRA how it works for a child.
Documents You May Need
- Your CNIC, NICOP or POC, and your spouse’s.
- The child’s CRC (B-Form) and photographs for family members under 18.
- A death certificate, if required for your case.
- A fingerprint form if applying through a consulate or portal.
Fee
The reports give different figures:
- An Icons.com.pk page says the FRC fee is Rs1,000 for birth, marriage and adoption FRCs. Its dates are inconsistent, so treat it with care.
- The Graana guide says Rs500 for normal and Rs1,000 for urgent processing, but it is older.
- An Australian consulate page lists Rs1,000 for the executive option (7 days), with payment by card only.
Check the current fee in the Pak ID app or at a NADRA centre before you pay.
If You Live Abroad
People abroad apply through Pakistani mission offices, according to Icons.com.pk. For a marriage FRC at a consulate, one guide says you need a fingerprint form and copies of your spouse’s and children’s ID documents. The applicant must attend in person with children who have a CRC. Book an appointment and check your mission’s current process.
Common Problems
- Child not listed: The child may not have a complete NADRA record. Fix the B-Form or CRC first.
- Name spelling: One consulate guide says only English spellings of names can be corrected through the FRC.
- Missing 13-digit ID number: Icons.com.pk says people without a 13-digit NADRA ID number will not appear on the certificate.
- Parent details missing: Family members must have their parents’ names and ID numbers in NADRA’s records, according to the consulate guide.
Safety Tips
- Use only the official Pak ID app, NADRA’s website and NADRA centres.
- Do not share OTPs or CNIC photos with agents or on social media.
- Do not pay anyone to “add” a child or speed up the process.
What I Could Not Confirm
- A single official NADRA step called “add a child to FRC.”
- The current FRC fee.
- Whether a new FRC is always needed after a child is registered. The reports suggest you apply for a new certificate.
