A Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is a NADRA document that shows who is in your family. You can apply at a NADRA Registration Centre, on NADRA’s Pak Identity website or in the Pak ID app. The fee was reported as Rs1,000 in August 2025. This guide explains the three kinds of FRC, the documents, the steps and the fee. NADRA can change its rules, so check the latest details in the app or at a centre.
What Is an FRC Used For?
A PhoneWorld guide (last updated November 2023) lists these common uses:
- Proving family links for visa, immigration or residency applications.
- Inheritance and property matters.
- Government welfare schemes.
- Admission to educational institutes, especially for international students.
- Applying for other NADRA IDs, such as a CNIC, NICOP or Smart ID card.
- Sponsoring or reuniting family members abroad.
Types of FRC
| Type | Who is listed |
|---|---|
| Birth | Your parents and siblings |
| Marriage | Your spouse and children |
| Adoption | Your guardian |
Documents You May Need
- The CNIC, NICOP or POC of the family members who will be listed: parents and siblings (birth), spouse and children (marriage) or guardian (adoption).
- Photographs.
- A Child Registration Certificate (CRC), also called a B-Form, for family members under 18.
- A death certificate, if it applies to your case.
Family members who are not registered with NADRA, or who have unclear records, will not appear on the FRC. You also need a 13-digit NADRA ID number to appear on the certificate, so if you do not have one, apply for a Smart ID card first, according to Icons.com.pk. The reports I read give no full official checklist, so check with NADRA.
How to Apply at a NADRA Registration Centre
- Go to the NADRA desk and get a token.
- When your token is called, go to the counter.
- Have your photograph taken.
- Staff enter your data, which must match NADRA’s records.
- Receive the printed FRC.
PhoneWorld says the FRC is issued in real time at a centre.
How to Apply in the Pak ID App
PhoneWorld describes the app steps as: log in, go to identity document issuance, select FRC, enter your CNIC number and issue date, choose a category, upload your picture and submit the details. ARY News reported in August 2025 that all CNIC, B-Form and FRC services are available in the Pak ID app. The screens may have changed since, so follow the app’s own instructions.
How to Apply on the Pak Identity Website
- Register or log in on NADRA’s Pak Identity website.
- Choose the FRC category.
- Fill in the application form.
- Pay the fee.
- Give your fingerprints.
- Upload a passport-size photo and a scanned copy of the form.
PhoneWorld says a PDF of the FRC is emailed within 24 hours for the online website and app. Icons.com.pk says you can also track your application online using your CNIC and download the FRC as a PDF once it is issued.
Fee
ARY News reported on 5 August 2025 that the FRC fee “remains unchanged at Rs1,000.” It does not break the fee down by type or speed. Other pages give different figures. PhoneWorld says Rs1,000 for new, modification or duplicate FRCs, and an older Graana guide mentions Rs500 for normal processing. I could not find a confirmed fee for 2026, so check the current amount before you pay.
You can pay online by debit or credit card, Easypaisa, JazzCash or e-Sahulat, according to Icons.com.pk.
If You Live Abroad
People abroad apply through Pakistan’s mission offices, according to Icons.com.pk. One consulate guide says a marriage FRC needs a fingerprint form and copies of your spouse’s and children’s ID documents. You must attend in person with children who have a CRC, and card payment may be the only option. Book an appointment and check your mission’s current process.

What I Could Not Confirm
- The current fee for 2026.
- A full official document checklist.
- Whether the online steps are exactly the same today. Several guides are from 2023 to 2025.
