Pakistan Produced Record Wheat Crop of 27.5 Million Tons:
The government’s efforts, provision of quality seed, uninterrupted supply of fertilizer, and the Kissan Package have been credited by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the record bumper wheat crop of 27.5 million metric tons in the country.
During a meeting in Lahore to review the wheat procurement drive, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to increase the procurement targets to ensure a continuous supply of wheat throughout the year. To benefit farmers, he urged the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) and provincial food departments to purchase wheat directly from them.
The meeting discussed the production of wheat in the current year, its available stock, and the procurement targets of federal and provincial departments. The Prime Minister praised the minister for food security and other relevant authorities for their efforts and congratulated them. He announced that the government is working on a strategy to increase production next year and ordered strict action against hoarders.
