Russian Minister Denies Special Oil Discount to Pakistan:
The Russian Energy Minister, Nikolai Shulginov, has made it clear that Pakistan has not been granted any special discount on crude oil. Addressing the media, the Russian minister stated, “Oil deliveries to Pakistan have commenced. There is no special discount; the pricing is the same for Pakistan as it is for other buyers.”
Furthermore, Shulginov announced that the payment for the oil imports made in Chinese currency, confirming the arrangement during an International economic conference in St. Petersburg. He also mentioned that the decision on barter supplies has not finalized, but Pakistan has expressed interest in establishing barter trade with Afghanistan, Russia, and Iran involving petroleum, metals, coal, LNG, wheat, and other commodities.
