Off late, tourism is playing a significant role in the economy of the country. It is one of the fastest-growing industries around the globe and gives many benefits to the nation. On the other hand, some people think that tourism is causing major damage to the local culture and the environment is often ignored. This article will discuss the pros and cons of tourism. I personally believe that tourism is damaging our land and surroundings.
Destruction of natural Environment by Tourism
To begin with, by tourism the natural habitats are destroying, trees are cut down in order to make a residential area, restaurant or cafe. Local people are damaging the land and no one is paying attention towards it. All the big tress beautiful views are turning into an urban age which will be harmful in coming years. For instance, swat has been full of natural beauty in 2016, but in these days it has become commercial areas and resident for the tourist. Malam Jabba area of Swat timber mafia is active once again and several very large trees have been chopped overnight. The mafia is also active in Kalam where ancient forests are being targeted. A similar activity has been reported in Matta the hometown of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister. Furthermore, people who are visiting the northern areas are creating a huge mess there, they dump the waste which turn the natural beauty into unexceptional change these factors are ignored by the local people and the government.
Conflicts of Culture by Tourism
Tourists frequently show disrespect for local customs and culture by refusing to adhere to local clothing codes, getting intoxicated in public, and behaving aggressively or improperly with resident. Beside this tourism is also causing danger to the culture. When people of different culture sit together there is exchange of language, values and tradition but communication barrier remains the problem between them.
The source of employment creation
Turning to the other side of the argument tourism has brought enormous advantages. Tourism is the source of earning for many people. In the current era where everything is so expensive that under privilege cannot afford it. Tourism is giving them a platform from where they can earn and meet their basic needs. Moreover, jobs are created for local people so they can learn new skills in the tourism services.
Tourism increases economic revenue, provides thousands of employment, improves a country’s infrastructure, and fosters cultural interchange between outsiders and native.
Tourism has many merits and drawbacks. It is responsibility of both local and the tourist to pay attention towards these issues. If people tend to ignore this, then there is potential danger of losing our natural beauty.
