First Violence Against Women Center-VAWC will link online all police stations in Multan district, Dawn reported. This center will also connect 15 different emergency helpline numbers for more systemized response to tackle gender crimes.
Imran Gabol reported that Multan Regional Police Officer-RPO Javed Akhter Riaz said an IT system will connect all police stations and VAWC to take quick actions against the complaints of sexual abuse, harassments and torture.
Violence Against Women Center- Muneeza Butt told that most of the women responded or reported in nearest Police station. Due to lack of knowledge they did not come to center. Police department can trunk the efforts to give them protection and relief. It happened due to lack of medical certificates and communication.
Women Police Station’s SHO Mrs. Naila and Zainab Malik were also attending this meeting with RPO. He suggested that all victims of gender-based crimes should referred to the center.
According to reports, RPO Javed Akhter Riaz further said that he solve issues faced by the Women’s Centre soon.
A transport service will launce to facilitate better access for women. while talking with DAWN Muneeza Butt said “We are also arranging to provide transport to the victims of domestic violence and other abuses to the center to provide better legal cover to cases”.
