Govt. Increase Gas Meter Rent From R. 40 To Rs. 500 Per Month:
The population, which already struggling, has been dealt another blow as Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) recently increased gas meter rentals substantially.
According to reports, the monthly fee for a gas meter has gone up from Rs 40 to Rs 500, and new regulations require users to pay a minimum of Rs 500 per month, regardless of whether they use gas or not. This decision made by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) due to the severe financial crisis being face by the nation’s sole gas supplier, as per a spokesperson.
However, the decision will not be applicable to customers who have gas bills less than 0.9 cubic hectare in November and December. In February of this year, the OGRA announced a significant increase of almost 124 percent for specific categories of users of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and Sui Southern Gas Company.
