Indian Official Made the Dam Empty to Retrieve Phone:
A government official in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh had to resign due to his excessive obsession with taking selfies, which resulted in a costly incident. Rajesh Vishwas, 32, from Pakhanjore in Kankar district, was attempting to take a selfie near a dam when his phone slipped from his hands and fell into the water. In an attempt to retrieve his phone, he emptied the entire dam.
According to reports, the phone he lost was a Samsung S23 Alter, valued at approximately 95,000 Indian rupees (around 300,000 Pakistani rupees). The incident came to the attention of authorities after the process of transferring water from the dam began on Tuesday and completed on Thursday. Action taken against Rajesh Vishwas by the officials.
Kankar District Collector Priyanka Shukla confirmed the disciplinary action taken against the official, citing that he did not have the authority to extract water from the dam. The water was intended for human and animal use during the hot summer days. Rajesh Vishwas, who works as a food inspector, had gone to Pralkot for a picnic with friends when he accidentally dropped his phone into the water while taking a selfie.
Despite efforts by local divers to locate the phone, it could not found. As a result, Vishwas suggested lowering the water level of the dam to retrieve it. He sought verbal permission from the Sub Divisional Officer of Water Resources, who authorized him to rent a pump for 7,000 rupees to draw water from the dam.
Written orders issued against Rajesh Vishwas, stating that he misused his position by wasting a significant amount of water without the permission of any responsible officer, which deemed unacceptable, especially during the summer season. As a consequence, he immediately suspended from his duties.
