Avoid Paying luggage Fee Passenger Wore 2.5 Kg of Clothes:
Gel Rodriguez made a decision to avoid paying for extra luggage weight by wearing the clothes that were contributing to the overweight baggage instead. To achieve this, she put on multiple layers of clothing including long-sleeved shirts, coats, trousers, and shirts.
Gel shared a photo of herself wearing these outfits on Facebook in 2019, which went viral and captured the attention of people around the world. In her Facebook post, Gel explained that airline officials had informed her that her carry-on luggage exceeded the allowed weight limit of seven kilograms. She was only two kilograms over the limit due to the weight of another woman’s luggage, which weighed nine kilograms. Gel was able to reduce the weight of her luggage by 2.5 kilograms by wearing the layers of clothing, which was more than what she needed to remove.
As a result, Gel was able to board the aircraft without paying the surcharge, even though she looked a bit silly with all the layers on. She posted a picture of her achievement on social media with the message that she had successfully reduced her luggage weight from 6.5 kilograms to 9 kilograms without paying extra fees.
