China Unveiled World’s First 5G Cruise Ship:
In Shanghai, China, the launch of the Adora Magic City, also known as “Mo Du,” marks a significant milestone as the country’s first domestically built cruise ship. What sets this cruise ship apart is its distinction as the world’s first 5G ship. Boasting 2,125 rooms, it has the capacity to accommodate approximately 5,246 passengers when operating at full capacity. The construction of this remarkable vessel commenced in 2019 under the supervision of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
Reports from Chinese People’s Daily and Global Times highlight the extraordinary complexity of the Adora Magic City. Comprised of more than 25 million individual parts, it surpasses the complexity of China’s first domestic aircraft, the C919, and the “Fuxing” bullet train by having five times and 13 times the number of individual parts, respectively.
Before entering commercial service next year, the cruise ship will undergo two sea trials, scheduled for July and August, to ensure its readiness and performance. These trials will serve as crucial testing phases before the ship’s official launch.
