Chakwal: Dr. Sania Nishtar- Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Senator recently inaugurated ginger cultivation. Ginger first time cultivated in “Ginger Harvest Workshop” organized in Balkasar near Chakwal and inaugurated by Dr. Sania Nishtar on Sunday.
This was first ever ginger harvest trial in Pakistan. This crop grown in eleven months. Ginger is most important ingredient in Pakistan cooking. It’s demand is very high but unfortunately it is not available to cultivate here. As all crop is imported to fulfil domestic needs.
Purpose of event was to learn about sustainable growing and management of ginger for participants. And most importantly how to harvest this crop properly.
Dr. Sania said while addressing on this, Ginger will rise as a major crop and can be a game changer crop for agriculture forming community Dr. Sania said while addressing on this occasion. Agriculture is keenly associated with Poverty Alleviation in Pakistan. Research institutions, government, private sector, innovators and formers need to work together to build synergies and develop agricultural value chains. This can lead towards greater results for Poverty Alleviation, economic growth, livelihood creation and foreign trade boost up.
Dr. Muhammad Ali- Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Muhammad Najeebullah- Director Vegetable Research Institute- Faisalabad and other researchers and experts were present in the event.
Participants learnt and provided information, how to successfully harvest and grow ginger in Pakistan land.
