Baluchistan: Mohsin Hassan Butt -Inspector General Police -IGP inaugurated first ever women police station in Baluchistan on Friday.
Baluchistan province got such facility (women police station) after 28 years. However First ever police station for women in Pakistan’s history was inaugurate in January, 1994. Late Benazir Bhutto Prime Minister at that time inaugurated the police station in Islamabad.
Dawn reported that IGP Baluchistan said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of this platform “Keeping in mind the traditional environment of the province, I have been striving to establish a separate police station for women so that they can lodge their complaints with confidence in a peaceful environment.”
It will help women who are not able to visit police stations for personal or other reasons. According to a research studies conducted on Domestic Violence and Women’s Police Stations in Brazil, women police stations are prove very effective among different groups of women. Specially for women living in metropolitan and younger women and related to limiting homicide rate.
All staff of this platform would contain women only. So that women can easily share their issues and can register their FIRs. This first police station will play a key role in Baluchistan province IGP Baluchistan added more.
