On Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, a Sukhoi fighter jet from the Indian Air Force (IAF) experienced a mishap and crashed in Nashik district, Maharashtra. Fortunately, both the pilot and co-pilot were able to eject safely from the aircraft before impact.
Special Inspector General D.R. Karale of the Nashik Range confirmed that “the pilot and co-pilot ejected safely.” Reports indicate the aircraft went down in a field near Shirasgaon village.
According to news sources, Wing Commander Bokil and his copilot, Biswas, were piloting the Sukhoi fighter jet when it encountered an issue and descended into a farm around 1:20 pm. While both pilots successfully ejected, they did sustain minor injuries and transported to the HAL hospital for evaluation.
The aircraft itself ignited upon impact, but emergency crews were able to extinguish the fire. The wreckage of the Sukhoi fighter jet is scattered across a 500-meter radius. Teams from the IAF, HAL security, and a technical unit are currently at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
