India Successfully Launches Its Inaugural International Cruise Ship:
India has recently introduced its inaugural international cruise ship, named MV Empress, which embarked on its maiden voyage from Chennai to Sri Lanka. This magnificent vessel, capable of accommodating up to 750 passengers, will explore three ports in Sri Lanka during its captivating five-day cruise.
Sarbananda Sonowal, the union minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, expressed his enthusiasm for India’s coastal region, highlighting its immense potential for cruise tourism. With its rich heritage and vibrant culture, the coastal area offers a compelling attraction for tourists. The launch of MV Empress signifies a significant milestone in providing accessible and affordable access to world-class cruise services. Passengers on board will have the opportunity to indulge in luxurious facilities, captivating entertainment, and awe-inspiring vistas.
The MV Empress will make stops at the picturesque ports of Hambantota, Trincomalee, and Kankesanturei in Sri Lanka before returning to its port of origin, Chennai. A range of enticing tour packages is available, allowing passengers to select from two to five-night cruises. Prices for these packages start at ₹86,383 for a three-night voyage, accommodating two individuals.
Overall, the introduction of the MV Empress heralds a new era for India’s cruise tourism industry, offering travelers a remarkable and unforgettable experience as they explore the stunning coastal regions and cultural treasures of Sri Lanka.
