New Offshore Wind Turbines will Power a House for 2 Days:
An upcoming offshore wind farm will utilize exceptionally large turbines to generate electricity. The turbines are so immense that one rotation can supply power to an average home for two consecutive days. The wind farm will be the first of its kind in the US, and the turbines have recently undergone improvements, making them even more advanced than their previous iteration.
Vineyard Wind, the company behind the offshore farm, has selected the GE Haliade-X as its turbine of choice, with a capacity of 13 MW, which is more than double the size of previous turbines used off the US coast. The Haliade-X is capable of powering an average UK household for two days with just a single spin, surpassing GE’s previous record.
This achievement is a significant milestone for both Vineyard Wind’s project and the industry as a whole. Which expected to experience rapid growth over the next few decades. Vineyard Wind 1 will situated off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and will supply electricity to the area’s industries and approximately 400,000 residences.
