Great news for aspiring Umrah pilgrims! After a nine-year hiatus, Iran has announced the resumption of Umrah pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia. This development brings much joy to over 5,000 Iranian pilgrims who will finally be able to embark on this holy journey.
Mohammad-Hossein Ajilian, the official overseeing Hajj operations in Iran, confirmed the arrangement of 11 flights catering to Umrah pilgrims from various Iranian cities. The pilgrimage program kicks off on Monday with departures from Mashhad, followed by flights from other major cities like Zahedan and Ahvaz.
The program concludes on May 2nd with the last flight departing from Mashhad. This resumption of Umrah pilgrimages signifies a positive step forward in diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The easing of tensions in December 2023, coupled with the reestablishment of diplomatic ties in 2023, paved the way for the revival of Umrah plans. Resolution of previous disagreements, particularly regarding entry permits, has allowed for the recommencement of these pilgrimages.
