Pakistan is Set to Establish Its First Green Hydrogen Plant in Thatta:
Pakistan is set to establish its first green hydrogen factory in Thatta, in collaboration with China. The Sindh government has issued a letter of intent for the project and allocated 7000 acres of land near the Gharo Jhimpir wind corridor in Thatta.
The project aims to generate approximately 150,000 kg of green hydrogen per day through a 400 MW-capable facility. The hydrogen will be produced using power from wind and solar farms. Green hydrogen refers to hydrogen gas produced using clean and renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power, which do not release greenhouse gases.
It is worth mentioning that the Sindh government had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese company in October 2021 for the development of Pakistan’s first green hydrogen plant.
