In a significant move towards modernizing monitoring, Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Punjab, Rubina Afzal, has unveiled plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) in monitoring electronic media channels. This initiative coincides with the development of Punjab’s pioneering cyber advertising policy.
During her visit to the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publication (DEMP) and the Press Information Department’s (PID) Cyber Wing in Islamabad, Afzal emphasized the integration of AI into media monitoring practices. She conducted a thorough inspection of the DEMP Central Monitoring Unit, Data Storage Centre, and PID’s Media Dashboard, accompanied by DEMP Director General (DG) Imrana Wazir and PID Cyber Wing’s DG Waqar Siddique.
Afzal received a briefing from PID officials on electronic media and social media monitoring. Speaking to the gathering, DGPR Punjab reiterated the importance of incorporating AI into media monitoring, aligning it with contemporary needs.
Punjab’s initiative to deploy AI for EM monitoring and develop a cyber advertising policy underscores its commitment to innovation and technology-driven governance and communication.
