Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat, recently expelled from the party’s key decision-making bodies, expressed his sadness over how PTI founder Imran Khan announced decisions concerning him.
While addressing journalists outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Marwat stated, “I am not upset with the PTI founder; however, why were these decisions made without hearing me out?”
Marwat’s Disappointment with PTI Treatment
Marwat voiced his disappointment over the party’s attitude towards him, stating he felt disrespected by the actions taken against him. “If people think it is better for me to stay sidelined, then so be it. I said I would resign if they want me to,” he remarked, adding that he hasn’t had a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan yet.
Expulsion and Show-Cause Notice
On May 9, Marwat was expelled from the PTI’s core and political committees on the directives of Imran Khan. His expulsion followed his public criticism of the party’s top leaders, and refusal to work under them. Subsequently, Marwat received a show-cause notice for violating the party’s code of conduct and policy. The notice accused him of making “irresponsible statements” that harmed the party’s reputation and interests, despite clear instructions from Khan.
Marwat’s Ongoing Conflicts
Known for his blunt and controversial remarks, Marwat has been in frequent conflict with several PTI leaders, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz. His outspoken nature has often put him at odds with the party’s leadership.
Comments on Imran Khan’s Legal Battles
Addressing the ongoing legal battles faced by Imran Khan, Marwat dismissed them as baseless. “Our opponents are succeeding. They make a new case as soon as one of the cases ends,” he said. He further mentioned that the PTI founder’s hopes for release lie with the nation, asserting, “When the people take to the streets, the state and these institutions will release him.”
Conclusion
Sher Afzal Marwat’s recent comments highlight the internal conflicts within PTI and raise questions about the party’s decision-making process. Despite his expulsion, Marwat remains a vocal critic of the party’s leadership, emphasizing the need for transparent and inclusive decision-making within PTI.
