The house adopted a unanimous resolution, tabled by Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Zia Lanjar, expressing solidarity with the Iranian people during this difficult time. The resolution emphasized that the entire nation stands with Iran.
“This House expresses its deepest condolences and sorrow over the tragic helicopter accident that resulted in the loss of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian, and other esteemed personalities,” the resolution stated. The tribute to the late Iranian president also highlighted the historical and cultural ties between Iran and Pakistan.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah spoke on the resolution, praising President Raisi’s significant contributions to world affairs and expressing heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this tragic time,” he added .
Opposition leader Ali Khurshidi called Raisi’s death a great loss for Muslims worldwide. He paid glowing tributes to the late Iranian president, acknowledging his pivotal role in regional stability.
At the beginning of the proceedings, Minister Zia Lanjar sought permission to defer all other business and read out the resolution. The speaker facilitated the process, leading to a unanimous adoption of the resolution. Members from various political parties also spoke, reinforcing the assembly’s tribute to the late Iranian president.
