Masood Akhtar -TV and stage actor, Veteran film and a director has passed away on March 5 in Lahore. He was 82 years old and awarded with pride of performance award in 2005. He was in hospital for last couple of months after his health deteriorated.
Some resources told that he was suffering from lung cancer which caused death. His funeral prayer held in Usman Park, Lahore at 4pm. The actor laid to rest in Miani Sahib graveyard. He left two daughters and a widow behind.
Masood Akhtar was born in Sahiwal and has a huge contribution in performing many movies, TV dramas and theatre production by acting and and directing.
He made his appearance in 135 movies including 78 Urdu and 51 Punjabi. There were also three double version and two Pashto movies, the actor Khalid Moin said. Masood Akhtar was the pioneer of stage drama industry at Alhamra Arts Council. Paisa Bolta Hai was one of his early and famous plays at Alhamra in 1970s which lead him towards immense popularity.
Usman Buzdar -Chief Minister of Punjab expressed condenses and paid tribute over death of veteran actor’s death. CM said that he was a versatile actor and his admirable work is still appreciated.
