In a decisive move to ensure food safety in Lahore, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized 800 kilograms of spoiled chicken meat from a suspicious vehicle on Jaranwala Road. This significant bust resulted in the arrest of three individuals, now facing criminal charges for their role in distributing unsafe food products.
Acting on a tip-off from a vigilant citizen, PFA officials intercepted the vehicle at around 11 PM, uncovering a large quantity of dead chicken meat. The spoiled chicken was intended for markets across the city but was deemed unfit for human consumption due to its deteriorated condition.
To prevent any potential harm to consumers, the PFA officials destroyed the spoiled chicken meat onsite. This swift action underscores the severe risks associated with illegal poultry distribution and the crucial role of stringent food safety regulations.
The arrested individuals are suspected to be part of a broader network engaged in the illegal food trade. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them under stringent food safety laws. The PFA remains steadfast in its mission to ensure food safety across Punjab and will continue to take rigorous action against those flouting food safety standards.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and adherence to food safety regulations to protect public health. The PFA’s proactive measures are vital in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain and safeguarding the well-being of consumers in Lahore.
