Peshawar’s Health Crisis
In Peshawar alone, there were 610 cases of gastroenteritis reported in the last 24 hours. Mohammad Asim, spokesperson for Lady Reading Hospital, stated that these cases were mainly due to over eating during Eid ul Adha and excessive consumption of meat.
The hospital also treated several individuals who had been injured by animals during the holiday. Additionally, approximately 500 people were hospitalized because of traffic accidents during this period.
Punjab’s Medical Emergency
In Punjab, six major public hospitals reported a combined total of 2,200 patients during the Eid ul Adha holidays. Among these, 180 cases involved gastroenteritis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital treated more than 130 patients for these ailments. Services Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital, and Mayo Hospital each admitted over 100 patients with similar health issues.
