Tech giant Google is making a significant investment in Pakistan’s education sector with plans of building 50 smart schools. These schools will be located in Islamabad and equipped with cutting-edge technology to enhance the learning experience.
The initiative involves collaboration between Google’s Google for Education team and their local partner, Tech Valley. Representatives met with Pakistan’s education secretary to discuss this project and other educational development plans.
The concept of building 50 smart schools centers around providing students and educators with access to 30,000 Google for Education IDs. These IDs unlock a suite of features powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) designed to foster collaboration, boost productivity, and personalize learning.
Beyond establishing smart schools, Google’s commitment extends to several other areas. Discussions included training workshops for teachers on utilizing Google for Education tools effectively. Additionally, plans are underway to create a public Google Reference School, serving as a model for other institutions.
Furthermore, Google aims to empower Pakistani youth by offering job-ready skill training through Google Career Certificates to 2,000 individuals. The potential for co-hosting an education technology (EdTech) event with the Pakistani Ministry of Education was also explored.
This multi-faceted initiative signifies Google’s dedication to supporting Pakistan’s educational transformation. By establishing smart schools, providing teacher training, and offering job-ready skills development, Google is helping equip students and educators with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.
