Experts Warning Issued: Bird Flu Spreading Rapidly in The World:
Experts have issued a warning about the rapid mutation of the virus responsible for the global surge in bird flu cases. As a result, affected countries are calling for the vaccination of poultry.
While the risk to humans remains relatively low, the increasing number of bird flu cases in mammals is raising alarm.
According to Richard Webby, who leads the World Health Organization’s Centre for the Study of Animal Flu, this is the largest outbreak of bird flu worldwide. The virus has become more dangerous upon reaching North America, leading to more severe illnesses.
Although the risk to humans is still minimal, Webby emphasized the constant mutation of the virus, which may acquire traits that facilitate human transmission.
Human infections with bird flu are infrequent and typically occur through close contact with infected birds. However, the discovery of a growing number of cases in mammals is deeply worrisome to Webby.
