Since its launch in 2016, the Health Card Scheme, known as Sehat Card Plus, has provided essential healthcare services to over 2.715 million people, including more than 180,000 residents from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). These KP residents have benefited from free medical treatment across various parts of Pakistan.
The Health Card Scheme, supported by a significant investment of Rs81 billion from KP, has greatly alleviated the financial burden of healthcare for many families. By covering the cost of medical services in over 700 hospitals nationwide, the program offers families annual coverage of up to Rs1 million. This extensive coverage has been particularly beneficial for KP residents requiring specialized treatments such as liver and renal transplants, which are often only available outside their home province.
Moreover, this scheme extends its benefits to international healthcare needs, ensuring that patients from KP receive the medical attention they require even abroad. With a dedicated allocation of Rs37 billion, the initiative demonstrates KP’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare coverage. This commitment fosters a healthier and more resilient community, ensuring that residents have access to essential medical services without the burden of overwhelming costs.
Overall, the Health Card Scheme has played a crucial role in improving the quality of healthcare for KP residents and continues to be a vital resource for families across the region.
