The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, has yet to clear the outstanding dues owed to Mohammad Hafeez, the former team director. Hafeez, appointed during Zaka Ashraf’s tenure on a four-year contract in November, has not received compensation for his services.
Initially tasked with steering the team through the challenging Australia series, Hafeez’s tenure witnessed a tough start with a 3-0 whitewash, followed by a disappointing 4-1 defeat against New Zealand in the T20I series.
However, his stint cut short after just two months as Zaka Ashraf’s resignation prompted the PCB to pursue a different direction, opting for foreign coaching staff. Consequently, Hafeez was let go, with the PCB officially announcing his departure in February via social media.
Despite attempts by Hafeez to resolve the matter of his unpaid wages, scheduling conflicts have prevented him from meeting with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The former captain, owed allowances for his involvement in the Australia and New Zealand tours, seeks a resolution through dialogue with PCB officials.
Currently, Mohammad Hafeez remains active in the cricketing realm, lending his expertise as a pundit and analyst on various local TV programs. His tenure with the PCB raises questions about the frequent turnover in leadership positions within the organization, a query that remains unanswered.
As discussions continue, Hafeez’s contributions to Pakistani cricket remain a focal point, underscoring the importance of resolving outstanding financial matters promptly and fairly.
