Karachi: Increasing cases of Corona Virous-Omicron has set alarm bells at Pakistan Cricket Board. As, Pakistan Super League-PSL season-7 scheduled to start from 27th January.
Omicron cases in Pakistan
A day before, National Institute of Health-NIH confirmed 79 Omicron cases across the country. On 13th December 1st case of Omicron variant detected in Karachi. Now number has reached to 79 including 13 cases in Lahore, 17 cases in Islamabad and 33 cases in Karachi. NHS said cases are asymptomatic means Omicron is spreading silently in all major cities of Pakistan. Only seven or eights have ability to test and detect this Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Bio-Security of teams and officials
The Bio-Security protocol has become a big challenge for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
PCB officials agreed to take foreign services for bio-security. This step will help players to prevent from COVID_19 and new variant Omicron. The Bio-security team will be given authority to apply the SOPs.
PCB has already declared about the booking of entire hotel for visiting players and official staff. PCB also notify to take strong actions against those players who will overstep the Bio-Security protocols. Different sections and zones will be classified for players and official staff and no unrelated personnel will allow to enter the Hotel.
The hotel staff will also a part of Bio-Security bubble. Because staff member can leave the hotel during the event.
A franchise officials said: no other plan formed if PCB has to stop PSL-7 matches due to increasing Omicron cases.
It is necessary to mention that PSL-6 had to stop in the peak due to virus in Karachi. Because remaining matches shifted in United Emirates -UAE.
PSL-5 also affected by corona virous and postponed.
