US Doctors Performed World First Brain Surgery on Baby in Mother’s Womb:
A groundbreaking surgical procedure took place in Boston, Massachusetts, where surgeons successfully operated on a newborn girl’s brain while she was still in her mother’s womb. The baby girl was delivered safely and has made a complete recovery. CNN reported that American surgeons utilized an advanced and innovative technique known as “Utero Surgery” to perform the procedure on the developing child inside the mother.
The infant girl suffered from a condition called Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM), a highly dangerous problem that affects blood circulation to the brain and causes damage to the baby’s lungs and heart, as documented in the medical journal Stroke. Improper blood flow not only impacts the brain but also affects other organs.
Upon discovering this issue before birth, the doctors opted for a cutting-edge technique instead of making an incision on the mother’s stomach. This form of treatment involves inserting minuscule needles into the mother’s abdomen and maneuvering them with the aid of a wire or another needle to address the nerves in the baby’s brain.
Denver Coleman, who was born on March 17 of this year weighing 4 pounds, is the successful outcome of this surgery.
