CPEC Has Created More Than 155,000 Jobs for Pakistan:
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China has highlighted the significant role played by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in fostering bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan over the past decade. With this year marking the 10th anniversary of CPEC, an official from the NDRC shared positive outcomes achieved through the project during a recent press conference.
Key achievements of CPEC include the successful development of Gwadar Port and collaborations in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and industry. The official emphasized that various highway construction projects are progressing as planned, and the operational power plants now contribute to almost one-third of Pakistan’s electricity requirements, thereby addressing power shortages. The NDRC also revealed that CPEC has generated a total of 236,000 jobs by the end of 2022, with 155,000 employment opportunities benefitting Pakistani workers.
